Rollgliss is a registered trademark of Capital Safety Ltd.
The inventor of the original Rollgliss system. The Rollgliss R300 was made in Switzerland and under licence in Germany where the R300 version is still made to date under the name of SWISS RESCUE. The standard rope for European use was 3/8" or 9mm although a larger diameter rope and adapted Rollgliss was made available for use in the USA. Rollgliss sold the patent for the Rollgliss R350 and the Trade name for 17 million Euros to Protecta Ltd, now part of Capital Safety Ltd. Specialist Training Consultants Ltd have been associated with the supply and maintenance of Rollgliss since our formation in 1997 and have been a user since 1988.
Pictured left is the latest version of the Rollgliss, The R350. the device now is now more flexible in its operation and now rated to 250kg or 2 persons. This version is the industry standard for access/rescue devices and is in use with Fire Services, rescue teams and industry worldwide. Lightweight and of corrosion resistant aluminium construction it is both easily portable and adaptable in its application for every task. We certainly recommend training in its use, although simple in operation, to get the maximum benefit from the device contact us, we have been using Rollgliss operationally for the past 24 years and its adaptability never ceases to amaze us.
The original Rollgliss R300 devices are still in use well over 12 years since going out of production, although only certificated for one person (150kg) they are used mainly in industry for vessel entry. We hold spare parts and are able to service/overhaul and re-certificate your existing equipment, prolonging its life for another 10 years. Most common requirement is the provision of a new rope, unlike others we only use genuine Rollglissflexstaic rope, this specific rope has been designed and manufactured by Mammut of Switzerland and Marlow in the UK to work efficiently with the device. Thicker or inferior ropes impede operation and could be dangerous, causing wear by friction to the capstan and increased wear to the rope itself. We have Rollgliss units returned to us that have been fitted with thick static ropes which has slowed descent on the device to unacceptable rates. We have also had units returned to us fitted with 9mm Marine ropes, used for rigging on sailing boats, a practice which is highly dangerous. We take care to unsure the Rollgliss device is returned to the customer in a full working condition, fitted only with genuine manufacturers spare parts and issued with a LOLER report and certificate of compliance.
We have recently been advised by the manufacturer, that counterfeit Rollgliss R300 devices are being sold in the UK. If you have purchased a R300 device that is less than 10 years old, and is labeled ROLLGLISS it most likely is a copy. Please contact us if you have purchased one of these devices.
NOTE: The legitimate copy of the original R300, the SWISS RESCUE is still being manufactured, available for the original 9mm and an 11mm rope. The R300 is made in Aluminium or Stainless Steel to the original specifications. Servicing and spare parts are available for these devices. Following re-certification in Germany in 2000 the SWISS RESCUE has a new CE number, is EN compliant and is now rated for 2 persons.
Please contact us for further details and availability of the R300 SWISS RESCUE
This copy of the Rollgliss R300 was shown to us recently and is available in the USA.
